Leara

Hi! My name is Leara, I’m a proud Black high schooler who’s passionate about learning and staying involved. I play multiple sports, I’m in band, and I’m part of JROTC, which has helped me grow as a leader and stay disciplined. I’m also really interested in both the arts and body medicine, and I care a lot about my education. At home, things haven’t always been easy. I’ve lost close family members, and I help take care of my niece and nephew, which can be a lot to juggle. But I stay involved and work hard because I want to earn a scholarship not just for myself, but so my mom doesn’t have to carry the burden of college costs. I want to make her and my whole family proud, and prove that everything I’m doing now is for a better future.
