Dr. Jill Abram, a board-certified psychiatrist from Indiana, has dedicated 38 years to psychiatry, specializing in child and adolescent care. Her commitment to restoring mental health has made her a key figure in her community. She works closely with other health professionals to provide top-tier psychiatric care. She began her impactful career at the Homeless Mobile Team at Midtown Mental Center in Indianapolis, where she worked from 1988 to 1990. She then continued her efforts with the Child Team for Mental Health in Anderson, Indiana, for six years until 1996. This role allowed her to directly improve the lives of many young individuals and their families. In 1996, she transitioned to private practice in Fishers, Indiana, while simultaneously serving as the psychiatrist at Pleasant Run Children's Home in Indianapolis. She continued in private practice in Anderson, Indiana, for almost seven years. During this period, she also held positions as the adolescent psychiatrist at Northeast Juvenile Correctional Facility and Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility. Additionally, she contributed her expertise as the psychiatric consulting physician at Fortville Christian Youth Home. Her career also encompassed a private practice in Indianapolis, roles at the Counseling Center at Christian Theological Seminary and Family Counseling Center, and consulting adolescent psychiatrist work at Richmond State Hospital. She worked closely with the medical staff at community hospitals in Indianapolis. Beyond Indiana, she served as a consultant at the Boys and Girls Home of Alaska and was part of the medical team at North Star Hospital in Anchorage. She significantly contributed to initiating psychiatric telemedicine services through the Four County Counseling Center in Peru, Kokomo, and Logansport, Indiana. Her consultancy work extended to the Department of Mental Health, where she helped develop a coordinated care system with the Department of Education and the Department of Families and Children. She also consulted with the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center and participated in the Conscience Development Research and Study Group, as well as a Trauma and Dissociation study group. Academically, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hanover College with a B.A. in Chemistry, and minors in Biology and Psychology, receiving a distinguished award for her scholarship and community service. Her medical education at Indiana University School of Medicine included a research year and culminated in receiving the Academic Medicine Achievement Award. Her residencies and fellowship at St. Francis Hospital and Indiana University School of Medicine in Psychiatry were marked by the prestigious Golden Apple Award for her educational contributions. Before retiring, she was licensed in Indiana and Alaska and certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Jill Abram has been a committed member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry since June 1991.
