Dr. Fernando Barrese is a licensed chiropractor with over 20 years of experience and the founder of ICC Medical Group, LLC, located in New Jersey. His practice is focused on treating individuals who have suffered injuries from auto accidents, sports incidents, workplace accidents, and slip and fall injuries. ICC Medical Group operates four locations throughout North New Jersey, offering patients convenient access to a full range of medical services for injury recovery and long-term care. ICC Medical Group was established to provide integrated healthcare under one roof. Services include chiropractic care, physical therapy, orthopedic care, physiatry, and pain management. This model enables Dr. Fernando Barrese and his team to deliver comprehensive and coordinated care. Instead of focusing only on isolated symptoms, ICC addresses the full scope of a patient's condition, supporting both short-term relief and long-term recovery. Whether managing chronic pain or recovering from a recent injury, patients receive individualized care tailored to their specific needs. The medical team at ICC includes chiropractors, physical therapists, orthopedic specialists, physiatrists, and pain management experts. All practitioners bring specialized training and experience to the practice. Dr. Barrese is actively involved in evaluating treatment plans and medical cases submitted by other licensed professionals, ensuring that each plan is appropriate, necessary, and meets the expected standard of care. As a chiropractor, Dr. Barrese specializes in non-invasive techniques that aim to restore spinal health, reduce pain, and promote the body’s natural healing abilities. One of the primary methods he uses is flexion-distraction, a technique that utilizes a special table to stretch and decompress the spine. This approach is commonly used to treat herniated discs, sciatica, and lower back pain by reducing nerve pressure and improving mobility. Another technique Dr. Barrese uses is the Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), which involves gentle, low-force adjustments based on the relationship between the sacrum and the occiput. He also applies trigger point therapy to relieve muscle tension and pain. In addition to manual techniques, he provides rehabilitation exercises and physical therapy routines tailored to help patients strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and support long-term recovery. All of his treatments are drug-free and designed to safely enhance physical health. Dr. Barrese treats a wide range of conditions, including lower neck and upper back pain, pain caused by herniated discs, and sciatica. He also cares for patients with neck pain related to whiplash, muscle strain, and posture issues. Many patients come to him for relief from tension headaches and migraines that are linked to spinal misalignment. His care extends to shoulder problems such as rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, and shoulder impingement. Additionally, he treats joint pain in the hips, knees, elbows, and other areas affected by injury or arthritis. His overall goal is to restore function, manage pain, and enhance daily mobility. Patients have expressed appreciation for the care provided at ICC Medical Group. One individual noted that after years of living with chronic back pain, they found real relief through chiropractic treatment from Dr. Barrese, allowing them to return to their regular activities without discomfort. Before founding ICC Medical Group, Dr. Barrese owned and operated several chiropractic clinics, including the Wallington Chiropractic Center, the Chiropractic Center of Jersey City, the Chiropractic Center of Newark, and the Chiropractic Center of Elizabeth. At these locations, he managed patient care from initial examination through recovery, including conducting physical exams, ordering diagnostic imaging, and developing individualized treatment plans. He also prepared narrative reports, appeal letters, and letters of medical necessity to support patient insurance claims and treatment approvals. Dr. Fernando Barrese began his academic path at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, where he studied engineering. He later attended Rutgers University in Newark from 1992 to 1996, earning a degree in biology. He completed his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Life University in Marietta, Georgia, and received additional training in the Cox Distraction Technique at the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois—a non-surgical technique focused on relieving spinal pain through gentle decompression.
