Drew Doscher has spent over 30 years on Wall Street, carving out a niche as a distinguished expert in distressed debt and the credit market. Throughout his illustrious career, he has held pivotal roles at leading firms such as Lehman Brothers, UBS, Barclays, and Jefferies, demonstrating a unique ability to transform smaller companies into major players by turning financial challenges into opportunities. Born in Stuyvesant Town, New York, Drew originally envisioned a career in law enforcement. However, after graduating from the College of Holy Cross in 1991, he serendipitously entered the finance sector. His career began modestly in a financial firm’s back office, but his talent soon facilitated a move to the trading floor. He spent his early years at Oppenheimer & Co., under the tutelage of Jon Bauer, a notable figure on Wall Street who introduced him to distressed bond and loan markets. By 1995, he had joined Lehman Brothers, further refining his expertise with mentorship from Tom Bernard. In 2001, Drew took a significant step by joining UBS, where he was charged with establishing a global distressed trading operation—a new endeavor for the firm in the U.S. and Europe. Reporting directly to Robert Wolf, he successfully positioned UBS as a leader in distressed markets. After a brief pause from the industry, he resumed his career at Barclays in 2006 under Bob Diamond's leadership. As a Managing Director, he was instrumental in setting up a global distressed debt business. The financial crisis of 2008 prompted a strategic pivot at many banks, leading Drew to Seaport Group in 2009. At the time, Seaport was a modest firm with only 40 employees. Under his leadership, it evolved into Seaport Global, a comprehensive financial services company, expanding its team to over 100 and significantly increasing its revenue. Drew's success at Seaport Global attracted the attention of Jefferies, which, amid a scandal, sought his expertise to restore its reputation. He built a new team and overhauled operations, resigning to protect his team during a proposed downsizing phase. Subsequently, Drew embarked on new challenges at BTIG and StoneX. At BTIG, he developed a thriving credit business from the ground up, marking the firm’s debut in the credit market. Later, at StoneX, he leveraged his skills to establish a respected credit division, facilitating the firm’s expansion into new markets. Throughout his career, Drew has navigated major financial crises, handling restructurings of behemoths like Enron and WorldCom and addressing scandals such as Bernard Madoff’s. Known as the “honest guy in a dishonest business,” Drew has consistently maintained transparency with his clients, earning their trust by providing straightforward advice even in challenging situations. His effective leadership during the Barclays-Lehman merger exemplified his ability to maintain team cohesion and motivation under stress. Beyond his corporate achievements, Drew has contributed significantly to community initiatives, notably restoring the Montauk Playhouse, for which he was honored at the “Diamond in the Rough” Gala in Montauk. Drew Doscher’s career reflects his deep commitment to ethical practices and his profound impact on the financial sector, underscoring his role as a leader and innovator.
